There's nothing more soothing and relaxing that a nice hot bath... oh, how I love to soak in the tub... just thinking about it makes me relax a little! If you're like me, a little bit of pampering goes a long way to rejuvenating after a hectic week of juggling kids and work and laundry and errands and - oh, the list goes on and and, so let's get back to the topic here...
Making your own bath salts is super easy - I mean, my four-year-old can do it (with help!). Plus, its an affordable way to treat yourself to something that feels so luxurious. And, they also make wonderful gifts! Here's the basic method:
Materials:
2 cups Epsom salt
10 drops essential oil
food coloring
1-2 baby wipe
funnel
1 pint canning jar
Directions:
Pour the Epsom salt into a mixing bowl, and break up any lumps. To color your salts, drop the food coloring onto the baby wipe, then use a spoon to mix the colored wipe around. The more drops you use, the more saturated the color will be. Once the salts are tinted the color you like, toss the baby wipe. Add 10 drops of essential oils to the salts and mix. I love Kis Oils, which are a good quality and value. Use the funnel to pour the salts into the jar, then seal tightly.
While Olivia napped day after school, Ethan and I made two kinds of bath salts: energizing Orange and Lemongrass and calming Lavender. I made some quick labels to add a nice finishing touch for gifting... add a simple ribbon around the mouth of the jar and you've got wonderful gift for a teacher or friend!
Orange & Lemongrass Bath Salts
Use 10 drops of yellow food coloring, then add 5 drops of Sweet Orange and 5 drops of Lemongrass.
Lavender Bath Salts
Use 8 drops of blue food coloring and 2 drops of red to make a lovely purple color - I ran out of red, so mine is blue! Then add 10 drops of Lavender (rosemary or chamomile would be nice with this, too).
I hope you'll find a few moments soon to relax and rejuvenate - you deserve it!

These would be a great gift. I sure do miss having a tub big enough to soak & relax in. Visiting from Fabulous Friday :)
