I'm all about my essential oils lately. They're just so perfect for raising your spirits, calming your nerves, and well, just generally smelling good. I'm in love with my new room freshener spray, actually, I have two of them - Lavender (Calming) and Citrus (Energizing & Uplifting). This is very similar to the Reed Diffuser I made couple weeks back.
DIY Room Freshener
Materials:
Mini Spritz Bottle
Water
Cheap Vodka
Essential Oils
Instructions:
I used some inexpensive bottles I got from the 99-cent travel pin at Wal-Mart. I decided to use some paper scraps and Mod Podge to make my spritz bottles a bit prettier.
Fill the container almost three-quarters of the way with water. For my Calming Spray, I used about ten drops of your lavender oil. For my Energizing & Uplifting Spray, I used five drops of Sweet Orange, and five drops of Lemongrass.
This little spray is the perfect size for any room in the house - or even the car. And (bonus!) I find that a little spritz of the lavender in the bathroom during baths or in the bedroom during stories works beautifully at winding the kids down at the end of the day. Conversely, the Energizing & Uplifting Spray is a great way to get everyone (happily) moving in the morning.
I hope you'll try this, and enjoy the benefits.

How easy! This will be great to do come the holidays!

These look so easy to do!! I never buy air freshner because I just don't want the boys breathing in all those chemicals. This would be such a great alternative. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteditto! i can't stand the fake smells of air fresheners either! :)
DeleteLOL are you sure it's not the vodka relaxing them :) I make homemade febreeze with vinegar and fabric softener for this. Last week Matthew decided he wanted to sleep with the lights on because he was afraid of bugs crawling out in the night so I made some and called it "Bug Spray" so he could spray his room down before bed...
ReplyDeleteThese sound great! I've been looking for natural ways to freshen the air. This looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteit really is nice to have a more natural option :)
