I want to tell you about my day job - I'm an office manager with many hats for a small venture capitalist funded company called VGo Communications. The product that my company makes, also called VGo, is being featured by Verizon in a new national tv campaign, which I wanted to share with you:
VGo is a telepresence device that allows someone to be in two places at once - and the ways that VGo is being used are truly remarkable.
Of course, VGo can be used in business to connect remote workers or companies with multiple offices. Some users have found that they are saving so much time and money on travel, that the VGo pays for itself in just a few short months. But that isn't really why I wanted to share this technology with you today.
There are many, many children that because of illness, disease, poor immune systems, or even severe allergies, cannot attend school. These kids feel isolated as they are not able to interact in social settings with their peers. But now with VGo, these students are back in the classrooms working on group projects, participating in science experiments - or even going on field trips. And these kids? These kids are some of the most incredible people you'll ever read about - despite their challenges and health conditions, they stay positive and upbeat. Here are a couple of my favorite stories:
There is a lot more I'd like to share with you about VGo, but I'm going to keep it short and sweet for now. If you are on Facebook, please visit VGo and like and share the two. You can also follow VGo on Twitter. You can learn more about VGo by visiting our website at www.vgocom.com.
Disclosure: This is not a paid advertisement. I was not compensated for this post, but I do work for VGo Communications, Inc. All thoughts and opinions are my own - in short, I simply think that this product rocks and really wanted to share it with all my readers.

The VGo is such an amazing piece of technology being used for such a noble cause, Ang! I am so moved by this post! I cannot imagine what these poor kids have to go through on a daily bases, even now, but at least they are able to have some sort of social life and learning experience that before VGo, they would never have received!
ReplyDeleteThis post really makes people sit back and think about how their lives would be so drastically different if they were not allowed to go to school because of some sort of disability. It is such a grounding thought and yet, now, the children whom have that thought as their reality have the option of VGo. This must be so wonderful for them!
I understand that this is new technology; however, I am surprised more school districts have not latched on to this idea, because I would imagine it is life altering for these children!
Thank you for this wonderful post!

Jeff, I can't thank you enough for your thoughtful comment. It warms my heart to read something like this from a total stranger :) There are about two dozen students across the country using VGo to attend school, and with this new campaign from Verizon, we are seeing more interest. When people hear about VGo, they are so accepting of it, I truly think it is a matter of getting the word out that there is this amazing piece of technology that can change a kid's life by getting him or her out of isolation and back into the classroom. Again, thank you taking the time to comment!
DeleteWOW that is all I can say Angela! Something that works wonderfully for children who can not come out to attend school is just pure genius to me! They can stay on top of there work, learn at the same pace as all the other students, and not missing any school time! I sure enough will be sharing this post about this new technology that benefits our kids! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment, and for sharing this with others! VGo is making such a difference in the lives of so many already, but the potential to do more is nearly limitless.
DeleteI am so over the moon with this product. What a wonderful and useful tool for many who can't venture out due to illness or other issues. I am really at aw with this. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving me a note - VGo really is an amazing tool for education and telemedicine!
DeleteI saw this on TV and thought.. wow.. never thought I would see something like this.. Telecommunication is really moving.. smile.. and I have to say using it for kids that cannot be in the classroom is a wonderful idea.. really glad someone thought of it..
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and taking the time to leave me a note, Michelle. It is really humbling to see the impact the VGo is having in the lives of these children. I've seen comments here and there from kids who think this is silly - they do not realize the simple gifts and blessings they have each and every day - health bodies and the ability to attend school, have friends - be normal. I hope we can reach more people like you who see the value and will continue to allow VGo to expand educational opportunities to all the isolated children out there!
