Valentine's Day Trail Mix & Treat Bag Toppers

The kids and I had so much fun putting together a Valentine's Day Trail Mix for their friends.  This mix was inspired by A Spicy Perspective, so be sure to check Sommer's great Valentine's Day ideas - she's got tons of them!

Since M&M's are a no-no at our daycare (it's a nut-free facility and M&M's are made in plants that  process peanuts), I decided to use some cute little heart-shaped pink mini marshmallows.

Valentine's Day Trail Mix
Makes about 38 bags

Ingredients:
2 bags miniature pretzels
3 large bags Chocolate Teddy Grahams
4 cups dried cranberries
4 cups yogurt covered raisins
2 bags heart-shaped pink mini marshmallows

Directions:
Dump all the ingredients in a large bowl and gently mix it together. Scoop the mixture into ziplock or clear party bags (I got mine at Walmart).

We found that the cranberries and raisins tended to end up at the bottom of the bowl, so be sure you scoop a little of everything into your bags.  This was a good counting exercise, since we were trying to make sure each bag had 3-4 marshmallows each.

Spooning the mix into the bags, was also some good hand-eye coordination practice for Ethan, and his sister Olivia was right there to help....

By making less trail mix to scoop....
I downloaded this adorable Treat Topper from over at Makoodle - Camille has TONS of treat toppers links and other great ideas for Valentine's Day, so be sure you head over there, too!

Mr. Juggling Act and I spent a good half hour together putting finishing touches on the bags - I wrote on the tags (36 names!) and he folded and stapled.

We're such a good team.

I love that this is a little treat and card all in one. I probably should have had Ethan sign his own cards, but I got a late start (both in days, and time of day) and wanted to crank them out quickly.

Regardless of my signing for Ethan, he is so excited to give these out to school tomorrow, and I hope Olivia will like passing hers out, too.
